In December 2024, the influential socio-political publication Forbes Ukraine published an interesting and timely article by Nataliia Zaika, Deputy Director of the Behavioral Science Institute at AUK. The article makes a significant contribution to debunking misleading rumors that bear all the hallmarks of information operations.
The article is titled "EU and NATO Accession, Language, and Identity: Are Ukrainians Really Divided?" In this article, Nataliia analyzes the transformations of Ukrainian society in the context of social cohesion and the shared vision of the future among different population groups in Ukraine.
To do so, she examines five key indicators of public sentiment, including perspectives on Ukraine’s integration into the European Union, an analysis of presidential elections, attitudes toward the Russian language, and more. The conclusion the author reaches is that most crucial issues no longer cause divisions among Ukrainians, making it unwise to trust rumors about societal fragmentation.
