Dr. Jacek Leskow donates books on mathematical and business statistics

The fund of the American University Kyiv library continues to grow and is replenished with the necessary information resources, both electronic and printed. The library space is arranged to create maximum comfort for each visitor when working with their chosen sources. This approach contributes to the successful completion of homework, work on creative projects or familiarization with new trends in the world of scientific research.

Printed books still attract a significant portion of library users for their unique ability to tune the reader's mind to new knowledge. Therefore, replenishment of the library fund with printed media does not lose its relevance. In general, the donation of books to the alma mater library has a symbolic nature that reflects the intellectual connection between students, teachers, and scholars, especially if the book is written by the donor. The gift of a selection of books on mathematical and business statistics from Dr. Jacek Leskow, dean of EPAM School of Digital Technologies, acquires just such an academic significance.

Dr. Jacek Leskow is a world-renowned scientist who worked in the best research and scientific institutions in Europe and America. He specializes in mathematical statistics and is a charter member of the International Society for NonParametric Statistics (ISNPS). Dr. Leskow donated the following books to the library fund: The Basic Practice of Statistics, Business Forecasting, Introduction to Econometrics, Statistics for Engineering and the Sciences, The Age of Surveillance Capitalism. Among the donations are books from the Springer publishing house, in which our dean played the responsible role of editor-in-chief – New Tools of Economic Dynamics and Cyclostationarity: Theory and Methods - II (Conference proceedings).

‘New Tools of Economic Dynamics’ provides an overview of recently developed methods and tools for qualitative analysis of economic dynamics. This book presents the results of a three-year interdisciplinary research project at the intersection of economics with mathematics, mathematical, statistical, and computational methods and techniques. Focusing on the evolution and diverse structure of complex dynamic phenomena, the book examines and illustrates the application of a variety of tools, such as symbolic and coded dynamics, models of interacting agents, microsimulation in econometrics, large-scale systems analysis, and dynamical systems theory. ‘Cyclostationarity: Theory and Methods – II’ reports on the latest advances in the analysis of non-stationary signals, with special emphasis on cyclostationary systems. It addresses the needs of students, researchers and professionals in the broad fields of engineering and mathematics.

The AUK Library expresses its sincere gratitude to Dr. Jacek Leskow for the valuable donations and invites users to familiarize themselves with the books.
