The presentation by the Director of the AUK Library at the IFLA Division D Midterm Meeting, held in Istanbul, became the basis for her article, “Open Access and the New Challenges for a Global World.” In this paper, Alla Guzhva shared her experience of creating a fully functional library collection that supported the educational process in a blended learning environment.
It is widely known that Open Access is valued primarily among researchers as a means of optimal scholarly communication. However, in her publication, Ms. Alla draws attention to the important role of open-access materials in the educational process, using the example of a newly established Ukrainian university.
Additionally, it was demonstrated that young people aged 19–20 who completed internships at the American University Kyiv in 2024 also chose open-access sources for their academic tasks, despite the availability of subscribed licensed resources. This fact once again confirms the significance of the Budapest Open Access Initiative as a means of advancing modern education for the entire global community.
